Where we checked
What you should know before buying from abroad
WatchBox, now operating as The 1916 Company, sells pre-owned luxury watches it owns and authenticates in-house, backed by a two-year limited warranty. It ships free, insured, and signature-required to most countries, and we confirmed it accepts US and non-US credit cards plus PayPal, Alipay, BitPay and bank wire — so payment from Thailand, the Philippines or South Africa is rarely the blocker.
The real catch is cost on arrival. The 1916 Company states international shoppers must pay all customs charges, import tax, VAT and duties owed in their local jurisdiction, and your carrier may bill additional fees on top. On a four- or five-figure timepiece, those duties can add hundreds or thousands of dollars, and a return shipped back from abroad is slow and expensive — so factor the landed cost before you click buy.
A handful of countries are simply excluded: if yours does not appear as a shipping option in the cart, you must contact a client advisor, and there is no guarantee they can deliver. Always confirm your specific country at checkout rather than assuming worldwide coverage.
Quick answers
Does WatchBox ship to my country?
It ships insured to most countries, but some are excluded. If your country does not appear as a shipping option in the cart, contact a client advisor to confirm before ordering.
Will I pay import duties or customs?
Yes. The 1916 Company says international buyers pay all local customs, VAT, import tax and duties, and the carrier may add fees. On a luxury watch this can be substantial, so budget for it.
Can I pay with a non-US card from abroad?
Yes. Major credit and debit cards are accepted regardless of issuing country, alongside PayPal, Alipay, BitPay and bank wire, so you do not need a US card or US address to pay.
