What you should know before signing up from abroad

SiteGround is a solid managed WordPress host, but since November 2020 it has only accepted new signups from its primary markets — the US, UK, most of Western Europe and Australia. From Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia or Indonesia the order page often returns an unsupported-country message before you can pay.

The honest drawback: there is no official path to sign up from these countries. Expats get around it by connecting a US VPN and entering US billing details, which clears the geo-check. It works, but it is a workaround, not a supported flow — and your billing country should match the card you use.

Once the account exists, everything is normal. The customer dashboard, your hosted websites and email all load worldwide with no VPN. Renewals are never blocked, even from restricted countries — only the initial signup is. Payments accept US cards, international cards and PayPal.

Quick answers

Can I sign up for SiteGround from the Philippines or Thailand?

Not directly. SiteGround blocks new signups from most Asian countries. You need a US VPN and US billing details to complete the order.

Will my site go down if I travel or move abroad?

No. The geo-restriction only affects new signups. Existing accounts, hosted sites and renewals work from any country without a VPN.

Does SiteGround accept non-US credit cards?

Yes. Once the country check clears, it takes Visa, Mastercard, Amex, Discover and PayPal, including non-US cards.
