Where we checked
What you should know before signing up from abroad
LifeLock by Norton is a US identity-protection service. The website and member apps load fine from Thailand, the Philippines or anywhere else, and you can log in and manage your plan without a VPN. So far, nothing blocks an expat from using their account day to day.
The catch is that LifeLock is built entirely around a US identity. It monitors the three US credit bureaus, your Social Security number, and US financial accounts. To activate credit features, your identity must be verified with Equifax and you need an existing US credit file. The service is sold to US residents only, and it even excludes New York. There is no equivalent monitoring for credit or records in your country abroad.
Payment expects US billing details, so a US-issued card and a US address on file are the smooth path. Non-US cards frequently decline. If you still keep a US SSN, address and bank, LifeLock works fine from overseas. If you have fully cut ties with the US, most of what you are paying for will not apply to you.
Quick answers
Can I use LifeLock while living overseas?
Yes, if you keep a US SSN and address. The site and apps work abroad without a VPN, but monitoring only covers US records.
Do I need a US Social Security number?
Effectively yes. LifeLock is built around a US SSN and US credit bureaus, so without one the service has little to monitor.
Will a non-US card work for payment?
Often not. LifeLock expects US billing details, so a US-issued card and US address are the reliable way to pay.
