| Pay with a US card | US Visa, Mastercard and Amex all process normally. |
| Pay with a non-US card | International Visa, Mastercard, Amex and JCB accepted. |
| Access without a VPN | Site loads fine abroad; Kaplan actually advises against VPNs. |
| Stream OnDemand video lessons | Recorded lectures play overseas; rewind and rewatch anytime. |
| The catch | Live online classes are scheduled on US time zones. |
Where we checked
What you should know before signing up from abroad
Kaplan Test Prep is fully web-based, so the courses behave the same whether you open them from Bangkok, Manila or Buenos Aires. We registered and paid from outside the US with no geo-block and no US address required. OnDemand video lectures, practice tests and the question bank all loaded and streamed normally on a regular home connection.
The honest drawback is scheduling, not access. Kaplan's Live Online classes and tutoring sessions are timed for US students, so a class slotted for a US evening can land in the small hours where you live. If you are far ahead of US time zones, lean on the OnDemand and self-paced formats, where everything is recorded and you study on your own clock.
Payment is genuinely flexible: Kaplan accepts both US and international Visa, Mastercard, Amex and JCB cards. Note that only countries under OFAC sanctions (Cuba, Iran, North Korea, Syria, Crimea) are blocked — none of the expat hubs we checked are affected. We recommend not using a VPN, since Kaplan itself flags VPNs and restrictive firewalls as a cause of playback issues.
Quick answers
Can I take a Kaplan course while living overseas?
Yes. The platform and OnDemand video lessons work normally abroad, with no US address required to enroll.
Do I need a VPN to use Kaplan from abroad?
No. Access works without one, and Kaplan actually warns that VPNs can break video playback, so leave it off.
Can I pay with my local non-US card?
Yes. International Visa, Mastercard, Amex and JCB cards are accepted; your bank may add a foreign-transaction fee.
