What we verified
| Ordering from abroad | None of these nine countries appear on the shipping list. |
| Paying with a US card | Cards work, but no order ships to your address here. |
| Paying with a non-US card | Moot — checkout has no shipping country to select. |
| Shipping to your country | Asia list covers only Singapore and Hong Kong. |
| Returning the saliva sample | Kit must be used and mailed back from origin country. |
| The catch | Forwarding a kit in voids the country-locked return path. |
Where we checked
What you should know before buying from abroad
23andMe sells its saliva DNA kit through region-specific stores: a US store, an EU store, and an international store. None of these countries — Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Costa Rica, Panama, Argentina, or South Africa — is on any of those shipping lists. In Asia, the international store reaches only Singapore and Hong Kong, plus Australia and New Zealand; the rest of the catalog is Europe-focused.
The real blocker is the country lock. Each kit must be used in, and returned for analysis from within, the same country it was shipped to. So even if you used a US address and a freight forwarder to receive a kit, the prepaid return label and lab routing assume a US drop-off. Mailing the sealed saliva sample from Bangkok or Manila risks customs delays on biological material and a rejected or never-processed sample.
If you have a trusted US address and a return trip planned, the cleanest path is to buy on the US store, register and spit while stateside, and drop the kit in a US mailbox yourself. Trying to run the whole process from one of these countries is not something we could verify working — treat 23andMe as US-only for this audience.
Quick answers
Does 23andMe ship to Thailand, the Philippines, or other Southeast Asian countries?
No. The international store reaches only Singapore and Hong Kong in Asia. None of the nine countries we check are on any 23andMe shipping list.
Can I forward a US kit to myself overseas?
You can receive the box, but kits are country-locked: the sample must be returned from the origin country. Mailing it back from abroad risks customs holds and a sample the lab won't process.
What is the realistic way to use 23andMe as a US expat?
Order on the US store while you have a US address, register and provide your sample during a US visit, and drop it in a US Postal Service mailbox yourself before flying out.
